Three Ways That A Farmer Can Benefit From Drone Photography

by Ernest Cox

If you have an aerial drone and you're keen on providing your services to different people in the community who may want to hire you, there are many professionals to consider contacting. One type of person whom you perhaps haven't yet considered is a farmer. Farmers can benefit from your drone photos and videos in a number of ways, and while a particular farmer may only need to hire you once or twice per season, if you demonstrate the value that you can provide, you can expect that the farmer will pass along your name and contact information to others in the farming community. Here are three ways that you can help.

Identifying Predator Threats

Farmers who raise cows, sheep, chickens, and other animals are always concerned about predators such as foxes, wolves, and cougars. Such predators getting access to the livestock can cause several fatalities in a short amount of time, which can dramatically reduce a farmer's ability to be profitable. The farmer will want to set traps and other deterrents, and may even plan to hunt these predators. A drone overhead can provide lots of information, including perhaps showing tracks that suggest the direction from which the predators came.

Locating Infrastructure Issues

Your drone will be valuable for any farmer who wants to assess the integrity of his or her infrastructure. A farmer wants to be proactive to deal with problems on the barf roof of structural issues on a grain silo. This can especially be a concern after a heavy windstorm, as the farmer may be worried if damage is present. You can carefully and methodically fly your drone around the farm's buildings to capture footage of their condition.

Assessing The Crops

While a farmer can travel through his or her fields to visually assess the crops in a variety of ways, it can also be useful to have overhead footage to tell the story of how things are growing. This is especially true with large farms that span a broad distance, as getting around the acreage can be a time-consuming task. If you're able to come on the scene and fly your drone around while the farmer views the footage, he or she can then identify any problem areas and travel directly there in a vehicle. Depending on the position of the issues, they may not have even been visible from the ground, in some cases.

Drone companies like UAVantage LLC have a lot to offer different clients.

About Me

Finding the Right Photographer for Your Event

The best way to keep your special memories alive is to hire a professional photographer to capture them as they happen. But after working with hundreds of professionals over the years as a special events planner, I know first hand that not all photographers are created equally. Some can really focus in on their human subjects to capture emotion that comes right out of the photos, while others are more attuned to making the surroundings in a photo stand out like a 3D feature. So I figured that I could help people who are looking to hire a photography find the best possible fit for the occasion that is going to be documented. Learn the right questions to ask, find out what types of skills to look for, and figure out what tools and resources are needed to capture all the details of your special event.
